In Armed Forces, after a long time of service in the country, when you retire, the government provides you with some facilities to live your life. One of which is your pension and terminal benefits, i.e. your live in cashment, gratuity, etc. There are many other welfare schemes that our servicemen veterans and widows do not know.
Today, in this article, I will tell you about 14 welfare schemes that are applicable for servicemen and their dependents. Before going to the main topic.
The first scheme that is applicable to most people is the Financial Assistance for Education of Children and Widows of ESM. i.e. CEA after retirement. I have also made a separate video for this and you may watch it in the ESM Info Club Youtube Channel.
You can watch it. You will get a separate video on CEA after retirement on this channel. You can check in the description box given below. Still, I will tell you the general information about it. The amount is 1000 per month. You can get up to two children up to graduation class.
The eligibility criteria for this is that a serviceman should be up to the rank of holder or equivalent rank in the Army, Navy and Air Force. Secondly, you should not get such an education allowance from any other government organization. Now let’s see which documents are required.
All the schemes that I will tell you about in this article are some common documents for all the schemes. For example, your discharge book, your I-card, your PPO, your Aadhaar card, your bank account details, and your residential proof. These are all common documents.
In addition to this, you will have to give the related documents and certificates of the concerned scheme. When do you have to apply? You have to apply for CA after retirement on the website of KSB. I have given the link of the website in the description box.
After clicking on that link, you have to register first. Once you have registered, there is no need to register again and again. If you want to apply for any scheme, you have to register once and then apply.
After online registration, you have to apply for Financial Assistance for Education. For this, each class has a different time limit. For example, you can apply for classes 1 to 9 and 11 from May.
For classes 10 and 12, you can apply from July. For undergraduate courses, you can apply from August. The cut-off date for this is 30 November.
You have to apply every year for the renewal. You have to register only once on the website of KSB. But you have to apply every year.
So, this was Financial Assistance for Education of Children of Ex-Servicemen and Widows. The next scheme is Scheme No. 2, Financial Assistance for Daughters’ Marriage or Widows’ Marriage. The amount for this is Rs. 50,000. You can get it for two daughters.
So, you can get up to Rs. 1 lakh. For this, the eligibility criteria are,
1. You should be a serviceman.
2 Rank up to the Hav and Equivalent Rank in Navy and Air Force.
3. Daughter’s age should be above 18 years. For this, you should not get any amount from any other government organization.
When you have to apply? You have to apply within 180 days of marriage. You have to apply within 180 days of marriage. Common documents will be required.
Apart from this, you need Marriage Certificate, Age Proof of Daughters, and you have to give a declaration that you did not get any financial assistance from any other organization. For your second daughter, you have to follow a similar procedure. So, this was all about Financial Assistance for Daughters’ Marriage.
Now, Scheme No. 3. This is Financial Assistance for Repairing House of ESM of Widows Damaged in Natural Disaster. For this, the total amount can be up to Rs. 20,000. Let us see the eligibility criteria. For this, you should be an orphaned daughter of a serviceman of all ranks, 100% disabled serviceman, and widows of a serviceman up to the rank of Hubbler and Equivalent only.
This is eligible. This financial assistance will be available only in the case where your house is damaged due to natural disaster and that disaster should be notified by state or central government. Which documents do you need to apply? All the common documents are required.
Apart from this, you have to give a certificate stating that your house is damaged due to natural calamities and will be certified by your state government authority. And you have to give one more certificate stating that you have not received any help from any other state government organization for this. So, this was all about grants for house repairing.
Now, let us see Scheme No. 4. Scheme No. 4 is Financial Assistance as Interest Subsidy on Home Loan.
Yes, a serviceman gets 50% subsidy in the interest of home loan. Now, let us see the eligible criteria for this. Firstly, your loan limit is up to Rs. 1 lakh. You will get 50% reimbursement of interest on this for a period of maximum 5 years. Secondly, this scheme is applicable for all three categories – wear bereaved, wear disabled, and attributable peacetime casualty.
For this, you have to provide the common documents. You have to apply online on the KSB website. You will have to provide additional certificate from the bank. Your loan amount, interest paid, and all these details will be provided by the bank. So, this was the Home Loan Subsidy. The next scheme is Financial Assistance for Ex-Servicemen in Penury.
What is Penury? Penury is when an ex-serviceman has not received a pension for any reason during the service. It is possible that the ex-serviceman has not completed the service due to which he has not received a pension. It is also possible that the ex-serviceman has not received a pension due to any reason.
Penury grant is authorized for the ex-serviceman who has not received a pension. So, let us see the eligibility criteria for these grants and their amount. As on date, the amount is Rs. 4000 per month. Ex-serviceman will get equivalent rank up to Howeller. There are age criteria for this.
Age should be 65 years and above. When do you have to apply? You can apply online throughout the year on the website of KSB. What are the documents required for this? Common documents are required.
You will have to provide an income certificate from the local authority. If you are not receiving a penury grant from any government organization, you will have to provide a certificate for this as well. Next is financial assistance to 100% disabled child of ASM.
If there is a disabled child of ASM, who has 100% disability, that child gets financial assistance from the government. The amount is Rs. 1000 per month.
The eligibility criteria for this is children 100% disabled and ASM rank up to Howeller and equivalent rank up to Navy and Air Force. There is one more criteria for this. These grants and financial assistance should not be received from any other organization.
When do you have to apply? You have to apply in the financial year till 31st December. Common documents are required for this. You will have to provide a disability certificate as well.
Once you start receiving it, you will continue to receive it. For this, you have to provide a life certificate in pension. Every year, by 15th January, you will have to submit a life certificate to the district security board.
All the schemes that I have told you, all the schemes have to be applied online to KSB. The next scheme is financial assistance to non-pensioner or ex-servicemen for medical treatment up to the rank of Howeller or equivalent. This is a one-time grant of Rs. 30000. This grant is given to those ex-servicemen or those who are not getting pension to meet medical expenditure. There is reimbursement.
The reimbursement amount is a maximum of Rs. 30000. The payment is based on the rate of medical expenditure.
For this, you have to provide a common document. Apart from this, you will have to pay the original medical bill. You will have to provide the hospital discharge summary.
The maximum limit is Rs. 30000. This can be done at once or more than one time.
So, this was scheme number 7. The next scheme is financial incentive towards ex-servicemen or liquidators undergoing cadet training at NDA. Yes, friends. If your child is training at NDA, then that child will get Rs. 1000 per month. So, the eligibility criteria for this should be ex-servicemen up to the rank of Howeller or equivalent. And your child should be training at NDA.
For this, I have told you about the eligibility criteria. And how you have to apply. You have to apply online on the website of KSBI.
And you have to provide the common documents. Apart from this, you have to provide a certificate. This certificate should be issued by NDA.
In which, all the details of the training course will be written. And the details of cadet will also be written. And you will have to renew this renewal every year.
To renew, you will have to send a certificate from NDA’s squadron to KSBI. So, this was the financial incentive towards ex-servicemen for undergoing cadet training at NDA. The next financial scheme is number 9. Financial assistance to orphan children of ex-servicemen.
Ex-servicemen couple died due to some reason. And their child, if it is a boy, is below 21 years. And if it is a girl, she is unmarried.
So, they will get financial assistance. What is this assistance? You will get Rs. 1000 per month.
How to apply for this? You have to apply online on the website of KSBI. And you have to provide all the common documents. Apart from this, you have to provide a death certificate of parents, birth certificate of child and unmarried certificate of unmarried daughter.
And once it starts, you will get it continuously. For renewals, you have to submit an unmarried certificate from local authority every year by 15th January. And if it is a boy, when it is 21 years, it will automatically cease.
Next, financial assistance number 10. Financial assistance for vocational training of widows. If a widow participates in any vocational training, she will get Rs. 20,000 one-time grant. To apply for this grant, widows should be equivalent to ex-servicemen up to the rank of Havoldar. And you will get it only after the course is successfully completed.
Once the course is completed, you will get certificate from the Widow Institute. You will apply for the certificate on the website of KSBI. And you have to provide all the documents of the course and common documents.
Next, this is not a financial assistance. You can call it a rehabilitation. This is LPG Distributorship.
Yes, you can also get LPG Distributorship. How will you get it? As you see, from time to time, there is an advertisement in newspapers and other media for LPG Distributorship. When such advertisements are published by oil companies like HP, Bharat Petroleum and Indian Oil, these PSU companies advertise from time to time.
And when they advertise, what will you have to do? First of all, you have to approach DGR. See the reference of this advertisement. What will DGR do? They will issue you an eligibility certificate.
DGR means Director General of Resettlement. I have given the link below. You will get all the information from their website.
When they apply, they will issue you an eligibility certificate. With that eligibility certificate, you have to apply to the concerned oil company. I have also given the link of all three companies, Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum and Indian Oil.
When the advertisement comes out, you have to apply at that time. As soon as your application reaches them, your application will be stored there. You will get an interview and you will be selected on the basis of it.
As soon as you are selected, you will get an intimation. And on the basis of it, you will have to complete the rest of the formalities. So this was your LPG Distributorship.
What to do to get it? How to do it? And where to apply? Next, Scheme No. 12. This is a financial scheme.
This is Financial Assistance for Procurement of Mobility Equipment for Disabled Servicemen All Lengths. This is a financial assistance which will be provided to the disabled servicemen. But if this disability occurs after your retirement, then only you are eligible.
The amount for this is Rs. 57,000. And the disability should be more than 50%.
And those who have after-retirement disability, this scheme is applicable only to those people who have after-retirement disability. How to apply? You have to apply online to KSB. You have to provide all the common documents.
You have to provide disability related documents. Then you will get this assistance. The maximum limit for this is Rs. 57,000. Next, Scheme No. 13.
Financial Assistance for Treatment of Serious Disease to Non-Pensioner Ex-Servicemen All Ranks and Widows. If a non-pensioner ex-serviceman has a serious disease, then he can get a maximum of Rs. 1,25,000 per year.
And for cancer or dialysis, he will get a maximum amount of Rs. 75,000 per year. So, there is a limit for different ranks.
Likewise, there is a limit for claim. For example, if there are non-pensioner officers and widows, then they will get 75% of the medical or hospitalization expenses in a year. If there are JCOs, then they will get 90% reimbursement of medical expenditure.
But one thing has to be taken care of. The non-pensioner ex-serviceman should not be a member of the ECHS. For this, you have to apply through KSB.
You have to provide all the common documents. And then you have to provide the medical document, discharge certificate and declaration of hospitalization. That you have not received any assistance from any other organization or government organization.
Next, Financial Assistance No. 14. If you have come to this world, then you have to leave this world one day. Everyone has to leave this world one day. So, if we do not stay, then our family members will get a funeral allowance of Rs. 5,000.
For this allowance, you have to apply for the ex-serviceman’s death certificate through KSB. You have to apply online through KSB website. And for this, the eligible credit is given to the rank-up holder and the equivalent.
