Reservation in Govt Jobs for Ex-servicemen is applicable as per extended Govt Orders. Exserviceman quota (reservation) is available for the posts filled up through selection process (mainly Open Competitive Examinations). In this regard the DOP&T OM dated 04 Oct 2012 and DESW letter No 0049/D (Res)/DGR/Coord dated 15 Oct 2024 (Processed by DGR/ DESW) can be referred.
Ex-serviceman Quota in PSU/ Bank Jobs
Reservation Quota in PSBs & CPSUs. The existing quota of reservations available for Veterans in Public Sector Banks (PSBs) and Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) in which widows can apply are as follows:-
(aa) 14.5% in all Direct Recruitment Group ‘C’ Posts.
(ab) 24.5% in all Direct Recruitment Group ‘D’ Posts.
Note: This includes 4.5% for Disabled Veterans and Dependents of Service personnel killed in action (Applicable to widows also).
Ex-serviceman Quota in Recruitment of Central Govt Jobs
Central Civil Services & Posts (CCS&P) of Central Government Ministries/ Departments quota for Veterans is as follows:-
(aa) 10% in all Direct Recruitment Group ‘C’ Posts.
(ab) 20% in all Direct Recruitment Group ‘D’ Posts.
Note: The benefit of reservation has been extended to two dependents (including widows) and given Priority II-A to secure a job in Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ categories of posts under Central Govt Org.
Age Limit for Ex-serviceman in Central Govt/PSU Jobs.
As per Govt Orders, Exserviceman quota (reservation) is applicable for Gp C and D Posts only. Age relaxation also applicable to Gp B non gazetted posts. However, for all gazetted posts, only 5 years age relaxation is allowed. Details of age relaxation is as below:-
- Age relaxation applicable to ESM for the recruitment in Gp C , D and Gp B Non Gazetted posts.
Age Relaxation is allowed equal to the number of years served in Armed Forces + 3 Years.
- Age relaxation applicable to ESM for the recruitment in Gp A and B Gazetted posts.
Age Relaxation is allowed for maximum 05 years only.
Exserviceman Reservation Rules for more than one Govt/PSU Jobs
An ESM generally appears various competitive exams for recruitment in various posts recruited by Central Govt/PSU/Autonomous body etc. According to the DOP&T OM dated 14 Aug 2014, at the time of joining the first job duly avail ESM quota, need to inform the civil department regarding all competitive exam that appears and yet to get the final selection result/ offer of appointment. In the event of getting offer of appointment out of the result of the subsequent competitive exams (already appeared), one can avail the ESM quota for the same. The main condition is, one must appear the exam before joining the first civil job.
